Choose a folder where your add-on zips live. That's it — Swichr is ready, with or without Blender open.

§03 · FAQ

Questions, answered.

Up to you. Keep it open if you want to toggle add-ons or whole groups on the fly while you work. Prefer to close it after setup? That works too — your changes stick either way.

No. Swichr reads your add-ons, organizes them in its own view, and only changes things when you explicitly act — install, switch versions, or toggle. Your files stay yours.

No. Swichr is new, so browsers and operating systems haven't seen it enough times to recognize it yet — they're cautious about anything unfamiliar. On Windows: if your browser warns, choose Keep. If Windows warns when you run it, click More info → Run anyway. On macOS: if Gatekeeper blocks Swichr, open System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway next to the Swichr message. These warnings fade as more people install. Proper code signing is on the way to remove them entirely.

Wherever they already do. Swichr reads from your standard Blender add-ons folder, and respects any custom paths you've set up. Nothing moves unless you ask it to.

Yes. Each Blender version gets its own library, so a 3.6 setup never mixes with your 4.5 setup.

Simple rule: if you can install it, it's an add-on — and Swichr handles it. Some asset libraries (Sanctus, Polyhaven) ship this way too. Raw asset files don't install, so they belong in Blender's Asset Browser.
